Asking why is usually counterproductive

As people try to work through difficult situations in their lives, they sometimes focus on “Why.”  They ask: Why was there a tornado; why did I get laid off; why was there a car accident? Why me?

Modern psychologists say they are asking the wrong questions. “Whys” keep them in the victim state and focusing on placing blame. They should begin to focus on how to get on with their lives by asking “What” and “How.” These questions focus on solving problems, and the answers keep you moving forward:

• “What should I do now?”

• “How can I make my situation better? “

• “What can I do to get through this and come out a stronger person?”

OPTIMISM BUILDING – HOUSING NEAR BOTTOM — FINALLY

New Year, same confusing messages from the media!  Read in USA TODAY this morning this article Optimism is building that the housing industry is nearing a bottom — finally.  Some experts say improving, some say not, they look at the numbers month by month, then correct the numbers the next month.  Have you noticed?

Real Estate requires a BIG picture view on your SPECIFIC area.  All the elements that the experts speak of play a part:  jobs, feelings of security, short sales and foreclosures, opportunities, interest rates, rent prices, taxes, growth, politics, etc.

What is going on in our area, San Francisco, and the surround bay area community?  A Lot.  As noted, with both interest rates and prices at record lows, people want to get into real estate NOW!  This applies to a broad section of people whom we are speaking with:   first-time buyers wanting to get in, investors looking for new project opportunities, people who have been in their home for a number of years want to downsize and buy low, and, the same for people who need more space.  They want to buy more at a better price than before.
